Successes: Management
I am convinced that being involved in educational systems is one of the most rewarding career paths a person can take. The dedication within the people who are educating Americans rivals that of firemen, policemen, and the armed forces. Managing such people means organizing and providing leadership, but more importantly it means supporting all the people who make learning happen. My personal feeling is that the process of education is a delicate one, and that each person who works and learns in an educational environment is important. If even one of those people feels isolated or frustrated, an important cog in the gears is broken.

In my seventeen years working in education, I have had the opportunity to support several wonderful people who taught me much about dealing with conflict and compromise. They helped me gain the ability to listen attentatively to every issue. I have managed up to five people at once, working on projects so large they seemed to overwhelm us at times. In doing so, I have learned that being a manager is more than just organizing and guiding. Being an effective manager means leading by serving.
