Web Development

The College of Education

Having been involved with designing and developing web sites for the College of Education since February of 1994, I have had many wonderful learning opportunities with regard to the design of useful websites that effectively support instruction, promote educational activities and events, and provide easy access to information databases. I had the honor of designing and developing the overall structure of the college's website, which received the LookSmart editor's choice award (LookSmart is a service of the Readers' Digest and holds the same editorial standards) for its navigability, consistency, and quantity of content.

Hospice of Marlboro County, Inc.

The director of the Marlboro County Hospice contracted me to create a suitable website for their facility. This job was the first time that I was responsible, not only for web design and devlepment, but for system administration and set up. The experience of registering a domain name, comparision shopping of internet service providers, and web/email account creation was valuable and rewarding.

The Run/Walk for Home 5K

The Run/Walk for Home 5K is an annual event that raises money for the homeless population in the local area of Athens, Georgia. I was given the opportunity to volunteer time and energy towards this cause by creating a website promoting the event. I no longer maintain this website but the content and structure have remained untouched as far as I can tell. This was a fun project and I have been showered with praise for it.

First Tune

This website advertises a commercial venture by Mark Maxwell, a recording artist and entrepreneur in Athens, GA. This is another example of a website that I designed and developed, yet do not directly maintain. I enjoy the challenge of repurposing a client's content for the web or for CD-ROM. The issues of navigability, interface design, and page layout are all involved in getting across information - whether it be for educational, informational, or promotional purposes.
